Learning about the Earth, Moon, and Sun...
created by: Betty Wescott
Welcome to our Astronomy Unit Website. In this unit, students will be learning about...
What causes day and night?
What is a year?
What causes the seasons?
What causes the phases of the moon?
Throughout this unit, students must use their own observations as well as, develop and test their own ideas on how these different phenomena work. It is important to remember: True learning takes place from one's own discovery!
Parents: It is important to not explain the process to your child. Instead, ask probing questions and look at it together. It is also crucial, for you and your child to be thinking about the different perspectives, as you use the interactive websites. What view are you and your child seeing? Where would you be in comparison to the simulation? Out in Space? On Earth? This is what makes learning these phenomena so challenging. Students need to be able to see and understand these different view points in order to fully understand these complex phenomena.
